YOUTH PROGRAMMING

Youth Programming

Young Artist Program

Have fun learning more about art and creating work of your own! This class is offered for 4 Saturdays in January – February for ages 5 and up. Each session begins with a thematic discussion followed by a hands on art activity. Students’ work is exhibited in the Kathy Thiessen Art Gallery for one month. The exhibit opening gives students a chance to share their work with others and see it presented in a curated environment!

Registration for this program usually becomes available in December for the January session.

Missoula Children’s Theatre
MCT is a free theatre residency week for young people, presented by Station Arts and hosted by Rosthern Elementary School. Students must audition and 50 – 60 are cast in a large scale musical production. This means daily rehearsals, classroom workshops, and lots of hard work! The week ends with two public performances in the Station Arts Theatre. Missoula inspires confidence, encourages leadership, cooperation, and may create the spark that ignites a career in the arts!

Persephone Youth Tour

The Station presents three professional theatre performances that are put on as part of Persephone Theatre’s province wide tour. These shows are free, relevant, thought provoking, and inspiring for young people in our community. Elementary and Junior High students are invited to share their questions and ideas in discussions with the actors after each show.

School Shows

The Station brings an interactive performance to local students once a year. These shows expose young people to contemporary and traditional dance performances, dance workshops, theatre shows and concerts covering genres from classical music, jazz, to rock.

Artist Talks and Activities

The Station invites professional artists to give presentations and workshops that coincide with the current exhibit. Students of all ages participate in activities and interact with professional artists as they discuss and create meaningful hands-on work.
