This collaboration reflects the shared value of spending time observing nature and our relationship to it through photography, poetry and watercolour paintings. The visual media of photography and watercolour both begin with the discovery of the subject, then knowledge of the details are used to create a composition: understanding what the light is doing and where the shadows are, selecting the right perspective, and ultimately, being connected to the subject. The poetry adds an extension onto the artist’s experience of the making of an image. That is the joy, the success. It is in the doing, and finally, in the sharing.

A portion of the sales from this exhibit will go towards supporting the Station Arts Centre.

About the Artists

Brenda Kramarchuk currently resides on an acreage outside of Rosthern, SK. Nature has always played an important role in her life and work. Her love of celebrating nature has principally been shared through photography but has stretched into other areas including journal making, poetry, textile dyeing, weaving and stained glass. She is especially drawn to watching and photographing birds. All of her mediums share the common thread, that nature should be cherished. She believe nature offers “the greatest show on earth” and encourages others to stop and look.

Myra Clarke is a watercolourist from Saskatoon, SK. Much of her inspiration comes from time spent hiking, biking and kayaking in the parklands of western Canada. She is drawn to the luminosity and rich values created through watercolour and considers herself to be a partner with water, working with this basic element of life, to create art. Clarke’s goal is to share her love of the natural world through her art; to communicate the joy, peace and contentment that come from contemplating the beauty of nature, the many moods of the lake and sky, and the variety of colours in the forest.
