Explore the endless possibilities of needle felting through the dynamic work of artist Elizabeth Muirhead.
Muirhead creates artwork with fibre in a way that cannot be duplicated in any other medium. With needle felting, the possibilities seem endless. Muirhead’s work in this exhibit ranges from flat to highly sculptural pieces, and it is this sort of variety that challenges and excites her as an artist. The tactile quality of her art – how the texture continually changes on the surface of each piece – is irresistible to both artist and viewer. This exhibit highlights the many ways needle felting can be used to create forms that include innumerable combinations of fibres, yarns, fabrics and feels. Muirhead believes that “if you can envision it, you can create it with needle felting.” Imagine that!
