Now accepting applications for the Red Chair Project 2022
Application deadline is Friday, June 17, 2022.
If you are interested being an artist for our community portrait project this summer, read on!
If you are up for a challenge, we are looking for artists that live in and around the Rosthern area to paint portraits of live sitters near the Rosthern Farmer’s Market. This is the second year of this project and we can’t wait to add more portraits to our community mural. We are looking for professional and emerging artists who can paint 1 portrait an hour, for 3 hours. These portraits will be collected at the end of the session and they will become a part of a community portrait mural (begun last year) that will be exhibited publicly in the fall. This event will take place on Friday July 8, 2022.

The Red Chair Project was created as a way to bring people together safely through art creation, raise arts awareness and celebrate diversity in our area. It is intended to be representative of the communities we serve – through the artists we select and the subjects they paint. The goal is to give artists a chance to work, have fun and be challenged while engaging the community as a whole. This is to be an inclusive group portrait that will be exhibited in a public space for all to enjoy. These portraits highlight unique individuals in our area and how they contribute to the richness of our collective community experience.
